Should not the newspapers and magazines that include these rubcards be held responsible for these scams? Why do they include them if there have so many complaints. Why doesn't the government legislate against them to protect the general public. I know there is a common rule, nothing is free, but I paid for the newspaper and the rub card was given away with it. Sometimes the Nat Lottery gives free cards away and we trust them if that free card wins. There must be hundreds if not thousands of people who have paid over 拢6 just to hear what they've won and to obtain the claim number. Once you send off a claim, THEY DO NOT GO AWAY. they are constantly writing saying there are unclaimed prizes, BUT it will cost to get them! I thought PRIZES were something you won - free. They do supply an address: Unit 10 Tavistock Ind.Est, Ruscombe Lane, Twyford RG10 9NQ - anyone work there? yes, you are right! The newspaper is distributing these scams to all there customers and if there was many complaints they should be responsible.
There should be a disclaimer on the cards, if not call a lawyer and maybe you can sue!!

Has any one used the voucher from the coupon book, Gift Checks, it's sold as a fundraiser for sports teams. There is a voucher in it for 3 days 2 nts hotel at either Las Vegas, Anaheim, Tahoe and others for $10. You send your money to a Company called Cash Savers. Tell me your experience. Well I made an account I signed in and it says it is your first time and click here to set up or something your account. I clicked ok and it says welcome to iTunes and I clicked continue it says do you agree with the terms and conditions I ticked the box and clicked continue. Then it says my date, username and if I want to change it. I clicked continue and it says enter your credit info and stuff like that. But I dont use credit card I have a iTunes £50 voucher.

Yes, it's in the FAQ. What I did was put my credit card in and then as soon as I was activated went in and removed it. I found out thru the FAQ that there is a way to do it.

The most polite way for you to handle this is to spread the world with your bridal party and immediate family. When your guests check with your family and friends to find out what your registries are, they will find out you would prefer vouchers/giftcards/money instead of gifts.

What you do is tell your family members and bridal party where you are registered, or what sort of gift cards or vouchers you want, and then THEY can inform the guests if they ask. If you have your own wedding website, you can put a link to your registry or the stores you're interested in.

Everyone wants to contribute or give us money for a house deposit.
Remember, the people you invite love and care about you and want to get you what you want - gift, voucher or cash. Obviously no one here wants to buy you anything, they don't know you (or anything else!) hee hee!

And I would suggest to you that, while you may think it is more practicle for you to go out and buy the exact things you want rather than depending on the random taste of friends and relatives, you will come to cherish the things that these people have given you as the years go by.
Gifts are given from the heart. Allow the people who care about you to express themselves through their gifts. If, however, someone should ask you what gift you would like to have, then by all means ask them for a gift certificate from a specific store.

Ok i have bought my bf his dream present...a day at a racing track so he can drive his own sports car as fast as he likes all day...thing is when i bought it all they sent was a voucher saying this...i dont want to just present it to him like that! hello, I'm trying to find a good photoshop tutorial to create a nice gift voucher for my mothers 60th birthday. my dad is surprising her by taking her to ny so the family have contributed towards broadway show, shoes etc etc so ive been left with the job of creating some nice gift vouchers. I want to make them realy nice. i have some images etc but its mre the layout etc... i.e. I don't want it to look like i've done it on publisher!!! i'm ok with photoshop and can generally follow tutorials really well. having no luck searching the internetPhotoshop turorials to produce gift voucher?

A girl in my circle of friends is getting married. We went to the same school and have mutual friends who are close to each other but I do not think I have ever even spoken to her on the phone, one to one.
Anyway, she is having a kitchen tea/bridal shower thing before her wedding (which will be abroad). I am going to travel down to london from liverpool for the weekend and I will see a couple of friends as well as go to her party but I have made the effort specifically to come to bulk up the numbers.
she is a very sucessful doctor, I am a struggling single mum. She has a gift list and like the cheapest thing is ten pounds apart from five pound gift vouchers. I could not go empty handed but even the travel to london is expensive for me.
what should I do, I do not think I have time to make something and it will be a hectic rush from work, then dropping my kid off then catching the train so I would not manage carrying around a bulky homemade gift.

I'd give a very inexpensive gift rather than a gift card for so little. You can afford what you can afford, but a gift you find on sale somewhere may seem a lot nicer even if it cost the same, plus there is effort involved. I'd look at what she registered for and either buy a cheaper version of something she wanted or take clues from what she registered for to guide you on what to buy. In keeping with the kitchen theme, I'd definitely go to a bookshop with a good clearance section and look for a nice cook book. There are always tons of them on clearance. Some of my best ones were the sheapest! You could also give her a bottle of wine or a basket you make up with different teas, honey and some home made cookies.
If she is a good friend she would understand about the money side of things.

How about a nice photo frame? That way they can put wedding photos in it which would be great.
Have you thought about a cheap way to travel, Big yellow bus runs coaches and trains but at limited times so may not suit, and on normal rail if you book before hand you can often save money - apoligies if you have already done this!
For the average guest, 拢5 is a bit cheap, but you have extenuating (sp?) circumstances. If you can't afford much else, then they should be thankful. It's the thought that counts, not the gift itself. I am sure that if she knows you are a single mum with money problems, then she will appreciate that you don't have much to give.
If you really feel bad about it, then perhaps give her this, but in the card say you will buy her something bigger when you have a bit of spare cash saved up. I'm sure that if she's a real friend then she won't mind.
I know what it's like to live hand to mouth (I'm doing it as we speak), so I know that ANY amount is a lot of money to spare. But as long as you speak to her about it, or mention in the card, she should be fine. It would be rude and inconsiderate for her to give you a guilt trip after that.
rather than a gift certificate (which is obvous how much you spent), why not do something cute with it? maybe get a cute gift box and make ';wedding day survival kit'; and maybe put little things she may need in a pitch like saftey pins, hair pins, clear nail polish (smudged nails or run in stockings), maybe a make-up remover pad, gum or mints, and a little good luck charm. also include a little note explaining what it is and your best wishes for the wedding. Also, you would be able to get all these items (those you may not have) at the drug store at the train station.

Yes 5 pounds doesnt sound very nice, but you could either buy her something small for the house (even from Ikea),try a f;ea market and buy her a vase or something small and cheap.Alternatively go for the 10 pound gifts on the wedding list. I'd give a very inexpensive gift rather than a gift card for so little. You can afford what you can afford, but a gift you find on sale somewhere may seem a lot nicer even if it cost the same, plus there is effort involved. I'd look at what she registered for and either buy a cheaper version of something she wanted or take clues from what she registered for to guide you on what to buy. In keeping with the kitchen theme, I'd definitely go to a bookshop with a good clearance section and look for a nice cook book. There are always tons of them on clearance. Some of my best ones were the sheapest! You could also give her a bottle of wine or a basket you make up with different teas, honey and some home made cookies.
If she is a good friend she would understand about the money side of things.
When I got married I appreciated anything and everything we were given.
How about a nice photo frame? That way they can put wedding photos in it which would be great.
Have you thought about a cheap way to travel, Big yellow bus runs coaches and trains but at limited times so may not suit, and on normal rail if you book before hand you can often save money - apoligies if you have already done this!
For the average guest, 拢5 is a bit cheap, but you have extenuating (sp?) circumstances. If you can't afford much else, then they should be thankful. It's the thought that counts, not the gift itself. I am sure that if she knows you are a single mum with money problems, then she will appreciate that you don't have much to give.
If you really feel bad about it, then perhaps give her this, but in the card say you will buy her something bigger when you have a bit of spare cash saved up. I'm sure that if she's a real friend then she won't mind.
I know what it's like to live hand to mouth (I'm doing it as we speak), so I know that ANY amount is a lot of money to spare. But as long as you speak to her about it, or mention in the card, she should be fine. It would be rude and inconsiderate for her to give you a guilt trip after that.
rather than a gift certificate (which is obvous how much you spent), why not do something cute with it? maybe get a cute gift box and make ';wedding day survival kit'; and maybe put little things she may need in a pitch like saftey pins, hair pins, clear nail polish (smudged nails or run in stockings), maybe a make-up remover pad, gum or mints, and a little good luck charm. also include a little note explaining what it is and your best wishes for the wedding. Also, you would be able to get all these items (those you may not have) at the drug store at the train station.

Yes 5 pounds doesnt sound very nice, but you could either buy her something small for the house (even from Ikea),try a f;ea market and buy her a vase or something small and cheap.Alternatively go for the 10 pound gifts on the wedding list. - Massage etc but im stuck for ideas now!!! Havin a mind block!!!

Well, I am not sure what his interests are, but maybe some of these ideas can be adapted. These are some of the things I have done as gifts in the past for some of my friends.
Host a Packer party for him and some of his friends. In the living room. sort of a tail gate party.
One time of shoveling out the driveway and the sidewalks, boy we get the snow.
A fishing day, I buy the bait and row the boat.
Making his favorite dessert.
Depending on the area, a night out at his favorite pizza place or restaurant.
A free oil change in his vehicle.
One time cleaning of the garage.
One time mowing the lawn.
Depending on your area, take him to a farmers market or a concert in the park.
Create a cheese and sausage tray for him to munch on while renting a good movie.
A man and his friends day, hosting a cookout.
Well I hope this gets some ideas flowing for you.

I do have to ask this question: why didn't you take advantage of the offer before the six months were up? Unless you've been gone for 6 months, that means you just procrastinated and are now trying to hold the salon accountable your procrastination.

Rather than a flight voucher that would tie you to a specific airline and their destinations and timetables. Get them a travel agents voucher.
I am sure that your usual travel agent would be more than willing to accept your money in exchange for a gift voucher that your parents could use to book a flight / trip / holiday of their choice.

We have been living together for a long time so we really do have everything we need. We are saving up for a deposit on a house so money would be an amazing gift. Every Christmas we seem to spend the following months trying to find people who will exchange the vouchers we received for money and would rather just let people know we would prefer the cash, can we ask politely in our invite? I hate trying to find something nice for not too much money, cos i can't afford much, and it's a nightmare trying to find something half decent! I'd rather give money and know it's something that you want. My husband and i were together 8 yrs when we got married and there was nothing we needed and i didn't like to do a list, and 6 yrs later i've still got a loft full of unused presents! What a waste! There is absolutely no easy or delicate way to word that one since it has always been considered tacky to ask for cash instead of a gift. Sorry about it, but you should make that request only of those people closest to you, such as parents who may give you a sizable gift.
I think it's really tacky to be asking for money. If I were you, I just wouldn't create a bridal registry anywhere. People are going to want to give you a gift and while some people will just buy you something other people will just give you money because they don't know what else to get you.
There is no polite way to ask for money. No matter which way you cut it, its VERY tacky and rude. Just dont put anything on the invites regarding gifts. Some travel agencies will allow you to register with them and people can ';buy'; gift cards towards your honeymoon.

How about the money dance? If anyone wants to dance with the bride or the groom during the money song then they must pay - whatever they wish- in order to dance with either party.
I went to a wedding where the groom asked his grooms men and parents to pay for the honeymoon as their present. I assume you have a good relationship with your grooms men so I suggest you give it a try, for starters ask your best man and see what he suggests about this idea.
You can also find a store that gives cash back when you return stuff. When you find that store, then you do your wedding registry there and after the wedding return all of the stuff for cash.

There is absolutely no easy or delicate way to word that one since it has always been considered tacky to ask for cash instead of a gift. Sorry about it, but you should make that request only of those people closest to you, such as parents who may give you a sizable gift.
I think it's really tacky to be asking for money. If I were you, I just wouldn't create a bridal registry anywhere. People are going to want to give you a gift and while some people will just buy you something other people will just give you money because they don't know what else to get you.
There is no polite way to ask for money. No matter which way you cut it, its VERY tacky and rude. Just dont put anything on the invites regarding gifts. Some travel agencies will allow you to register with them and people can ';buy'; gift cards towards your honeymoon.

When we had our reception (we were married in the Bahamas) we just didn't register at all and we only got cash as presents. You can't ask for cash though, it's tacky.

Put a little slip of paper in the invites saying something like

to make our special day complete what we need is your presence (not presents!)
However, if you would like to give a small gift, a donation towards our honeymoon would be very gratefully accepted.';
I do agree that there is not much of chance in slipping this one in on your invites.
How about the money dance? If anyone wants to dance with the bride or the groom during the money song then they must pay - whatever they wish- in order to dance with either party.
I went to a wedding where the groom asked his grooms men and parents to pay for the honeymoon as their present. I assume you have a good relationship with your grooms men so I suggest you give it a try, for starters ask your best man and see what he suggests about this idea.
You can also find a store that gives cash back when you return stuff. When you find that store, then you do your wedding registry there and after the wedding return all of the stuff for cash.

Flowers are a good option, but they won't last very long so how about something she can keep like a new scarf? A handbag? Or even a watch? It doesn't have to be too fancy, and it'd always remind her of that particular workplace.

You are lucky that you have your own house and you are lucky that you have friends. On your first anniversary, go on a long romantic holiday and call it your delayed honeymoon.
