What I find frustrating is the people who can't understand that if they want to take advantage of the free offer, they have to comply with the restrictions printed on the pass - including pass restrictions and expiration date.
I do have to ask this question: why didn't you take advantage of the offer before the six months were up? Unless you've been gone for 6 months, that means you just procrastinated and are now trying to hold the salon accountable your procrastination.
The expiration date is as good at the salon as the Constitution is to the U.S. :) So yeah, their are loopholes if you know a few people ;)

Rather than a flight voucher that would tie you to a specific airline and their destinations and timetables. Get them a travel agents voucher.
I am sure that your usual travel agent would be more than willing to accept your money in exchange for a gift voucher that your parents could use to book a flight / trip / holiday of their choice.

We have been living together for a long time so we really do have everything we need. We are saving up for a deposit on a house so money would be an amazing gift. Every Christmas we seem to spend the following months trying to find people who will exchange the vouchers we received for money and would rather just let people know we would prefer the cash, can we ask politely in our invite? For the most part, its only really appropriate to ask your family for monetary gifts. You don't usually put anything on your invites about gifts and even including where you are registered with your invite is considered tacky. Usually you tell people where you are registered by word of mouth, wedding websites, or when they are invited to a shower or something like that. I would definitely say asking for no gift is better than asking for money. Its perfectly acceptable instead of telling people where you are registered, to say just their presence is enough of a gift, but if they would like, they could make a contribution to your honeymoon.
After all our time together; we would like to say,
That we would love for you to join us on our special day.
And if, to help us celebrate, you would like to give us a gift,
We have decided we don't need a traditional list,
But we would really love a donation towards our new life,
In our new home as husband and wife!
I am putting a similar card in my invites asking for donations to our honeymoon, and am considering putting the bank account details on the back of the card. Its not cheeky or tacky: loads of people do it these days and it is a sensible idea. Who needs 5 toasters and sets of wine glasses?

I hate trying to find something nice for not too much money, cos i can't afford much, and it's a nightmare trying to find something half decent! I'd rather give money and know it's something that you want. My husband and i were together 8 yrs when we got married and there was nothing we needed and i didn't like to do a list, and 6 yrs later i've still got a loft full of unused presents! What a waste! Most people write a list of wanted items, and to me what's the difference? Just ask, your example is perfect. Good luck

The ''no gifts'' required, isnt great, its like you were expecting them anyway. a wedding is about your vows etc. Not how many presents you can get.
I think the only people you could really ask for money from is your respective parents. But even then, I personally wouldnt.
Ask for money if that's what you want! Your friends and family will know that you have been together for a long time and will know that you don't need things like kettles and toasters.

Wow, if I had everything I need I certainly wouldn't be asking for other people's money. Why don't you just say, ';No gifts please'; and then whatever you get, you get? Why be greedy? Why not be grateful that you're getting gifts, no matter what you get? If you don't register for anything you will up your chances of getting cash but some people give gifts. Get over it and be grateful.
you could ask close family for money as they will know what this will eman to you and perhaps have a small list pof gifts for those you dont know as well and feel you couldnt ask for money - i get married in 4 weeks and that it what we have done.

There is absolutely no easy or delicate way to word that one since it has always been considered tacky to ask for cash instead of a gift. Sorry about it, but you should make that request only of those people closest to you, such as parents who may give you a sizable gift.
I think it's really tacky to be asking for money. If I were you, I just wouldn't create a bridal registry anywhere. People are going to want to give you a gift and while some people will just buy you something other people will just give you money because they don't know what else to get you.
There is no polite way to ask for money. No matter which way you cut it, its VERY tacky and rude. Just dont put anything on the invites regarding gifts. Some travel agencies will allow you to register with them and people can ';buy'; gift cards towards your honeymoon.

How about the money dance? If anyone wants to dance with the bride or the groom during the money song then they must pay - whatever they wish- in order to dance with either party.

For the most part, its only really appropriate to ask your family for monetary gifts. You don't usually put anything on your invites about gifts and even including where you are registered with your invite is considered tacky. Usually you tell people where you are registered by word of mouth, wedding websites, or when they are invited to a shower or something like that. I would definitely say asking for no gift is better than asking for money. Its perfectly acceptable instead of telling people where you are registered, to say just their presence is enough of a gift, but if they would like, they could make a contribution to your honeymoon.
After all our time together; we would like to say,
That we would love for you to join us on our special day.
And if, to help us celebrate, you would like to give us a gift,
We have decided we don't need a traditional list,
But we would really love a donation towards our new life,
In our new home as husband and wife!
I am putting a similar card in my invites asking for donations to our honeymoon, and am considering putting the bank account details on the back of the card. Its not cheeky or tacky: loads of people do it these days and it is a sensible idea. Who needs 5 toasters and sets of wine glasses?

I hate trying to find something nice for not too much money, cos i can't afford much, and it's a nightmare trying to find something half decent! I'd rather give money and know it's something that you want. My husband and i were together 8 yrs when we got married and there was nothing we needed and i didn't like to do a list, and 6 yrs later i've still got a loft full of unused presents! What a waste! Ask for money if that's what you want! Your friends and family will know that you have been together for a long time and will know that you don't need things like kettles and toasters.

Wow, if I had everything I need I certainly wouldn't be asking for other people's money. Why don't you just say, ';No gifts please'; and then whatever you get, you get? Why be greedy? Why not be grateful that you're getting gifts, no matter what you get? If you don't register for anything you will up your chances of getting cash but some people give gifts. Get over it and be grateful.
you could ask close family for money as they will know what this will eman to you and perhaps have a small list pof gifts for those you dont know as well and feel you couldnt ask for money - i get married in 4 weeks and that it what we have done.

There is absolutely no easy or delicate way to word that one since it has always been considered tacky to ask for cash instead of a gift. Sorry about it, but you should make that request only of those people closest to you, such as parents who may give you a sizable gift.
I think it's really tacky to be asking for money. If I were you, I just wouldn't create a bridal registry anywhere. People are going to want to give you a gift and while some people will just buy you something other people will just give you money because they don't know what else to get you.
There is no polite way to ask for money. No matter which way you cut it, its VERY tacky and rude. Just dont put anything on the invites regarding gifts. Some travel agencies will allow you to register with them and people can ';buy'; gift cards towards your honeymoon.

I have a friend who really means a lot to me. He grew up in Dallas, Texas and came to California for college, and now he's a little homesick. 3. Use a brown envelope or if you have stationery, find a special occasion envelope or one with a neat design. Simply place the tickets inside and address the envelope if you're mailing it or place a sticky ribbon on top and present it to the person that way.
4. Or ... if you really want to mess with a person... wrap the tickets in some tissue paper. Place the tissue paper inside some newspaper. Keep wrapping with the newspaper until you feel it's big and bulky enough. Place a colorful ribbon on top of the whole package. To remove the sticky patch that is often left on other goodies such as kitchen and household goodies, stickers on car windows etc., I spray a little Fly Spray on the offending patch, leave a while and then gently rub off.....works wonders.
More annoying than those sticky patches, is trying to remove non-removable felt pen ink from items, especially kitchen goods.

I see people selling large value gift cards/vouchers on EBay but where do they get them and R they legit/real?
For example I could bid on 拢600 of Argos Vouchers or 拢100 worth of Next Vouchers and other similar auctions. Obviously some of the low value actions ( 拢50 or 拢25 or whatever of vouchers) are obviously unwanted presents but no one gets these larger amounts for birthday or xmas do they?? Are they stolen? Have they been scammed off the shops. Will I be at risk if I bid on something like that? Many people do and the bidding gets quite high. It is my little nephews third birthday in a few days time and my mum has shoe vouchers saved in a card for a present. When she went to the card today she say's there are 拢60 worth of vouchers and she swears blind she had 拢90 worth saved. I hate Gift Vouchers for two reasons
1) Obviously they severely limit what you can spend. your money on to only one place.
10 quid note- can spend anywhere in UK
10 quid gift voucher- can only spend at HMV
2) Because of this the first thing I think when I get a gift voucher is 'I wish I had the money instead of the voucher', then the second thing I think is 'at least they gave you something you ungrateful b*stard'
So for me gift vouchers annoy me, and make me angry with myself

Yeah, give me cash, lame gifters! Don't try and exert a feeble level of control over what I am going to buy. If you want me to get a CD, then chose the CD yourself you lazy swine. Now that voucher will sit in my wallet for three months getting steadily grubbier, until I have to go out of my way to spend an hour in some city centre chain store trying to decide which recent dvd release nauseates me the least. I hate vouchers, and I despise you, voucher-giver!

I do however love getting gift vouchers, no matter where they are from. If it is somewhere I don't normally shop, then I feel it is a fantastic reason to buy something completely random for no other reason than to treat myself! I usually use them to buy gifts for my kids and husband...things I havent been able to afford otherwise.
I wonder why some of you are so offended by HMV vouchers? Do you not buy CD's and DVD's? Perhaps you are a little snobbish as to where you get your music from. Me personally, I can't afford to buy new CD's, there are so many artists that I really want, but have a family that needs to eat more than I need music!

Why can't Zavvi gift vouchers be used now?
Now that they've gone to the wall, we're told that their stores are still trading, but anyone holding gift vouchers should write to the receivers and might get a refund if they bought them after 27th November. Nobody will explain why this is. Surely a voucher is the same as cash if they're still trading?

If you went in and took something, it would not necessarily be theft as suggested above. It would amount to a civil dispute.

For a theft to occur, you MUST have dishonesty. If you believe you have a right in law to these goods, then you cannot be convicted of theft....

Their stock needs to be sold and raise money not given away. You may have bought the voucher but since the company is in debt that money has already been swallowed most likely. The administrators will give you a refund if you write to them, or should. But you are simply not a priority for them at the moment, people like staff have much bigger worries than you since they might loose their jobs.
You can't take any legal action against a firm in administration, and removing stock yourself is illegal.
Zavvi's management have called in the administrators whose job is to get as much money for their creditors as possible. They now owe you the money in the same way that they owe their other creditors (banks and suppliers). IThe administrators have to pay the debts in a certain way. Taxman first - you come way down the list behind banks and employee redunancy. I would apply to get my money back but would not be holding my breath.
If you remove stock from their shelves legally you could be arrested for shoplifting and end up with a criminal record.
As a word of caution in these times never give people vouchers (they are not cash) as presents unless they can be spent at more than one store (like Trafford centre or Bluewater vouchers) and if you have them spend them now as no one can predict which store will go next. I spent mine on Boxing day. I dont get the whole voucher thing it is a ploy by shops to get you to spend in their stores (say you have a 拢10 voucher and what you want costs 拢7 you end up buying something you dont want just so you dont waste money!!!)- people know how much you are giving them so just give them cash.

A voucher isn't the same as cash. The voucher has already been paid for and Zavvi have already spent that money, so if they gave you a cd/dvd/game in return for the voucher now they would effectively be giving stock away for free, something the can't afford to do.
i thought about doing the same when i saw 'no exchanges %26amp; no vouchers' sign in their window.
however...they did exchange my Super Mario game....so i was happy. i think it's disgusting that they are not taking gift vouchers...after all...they have had our money....but, i'm sure they would still call the police if you took something from the store....!

When the gift vouchers were obtained the company was trading and the vouchers could be 'spent' or should I say be 'exchanged' for goods to a certain value that the company had. The company was, in effect, in debt to you for the value of the vouchers. The money spent on purchasing the vouchers went into the companies pot when they were purchased. No specific item had been identified as being owed to you.
When the store went into administration the stock ceased to belong to the company, it belonged to the administrator who is charged with the duty of obtaining as much value as they can for any creditors. You are one of those creditors and unfortunately often a long way down in the queue after the Govt. Customs %26amp; Revenue, Bank etc.
Sometimes, when a company goes into administration if you can show that your money, or deposit, has been spent for a very specific identifiable item then you will be able to get that item even after the shop has closed it's doors but otherwise you have lost out.
I agree with others that in the present trading climate I wouldn't buy vouchers and any I have I'd use up asap.

I'm giving gift vouchers to my favourite shop because I didn't know what she'd like...?
But she most likely has not heard of the shop. It seems a bit impersonal to give vouchers but I want for her to visit the shop herself to get what she wants.

So don't feel guilty or anything as it also gives her freedom and you can guarantee she will then like the gift since she's picked it, and compared to john lewis stores lush seems more personal because it's rarer to get given gift cards for there than John Lewis. I'd love to recieve gift vouchers for there and i'm sure you're friend will. It's also like a key to maybe one of her favourite shops which she can always thank you for since it's because of you she first went in there.

You dont have to give her Lush vouchers in order to share the shop with her- tell her about it and then she can make up her own mind about it. Because if she doesnt like that kind of thing what is she going to do with the vouchers? If it was my birthday I would rather get vouchers for somewhere that I love than somwhere that I dont even know.
